Michael Miller

Michael Miller

At a young age, Mike began working part-time for his father’s court reporting firm and quickly realized how much he enjoyed working with attorneys. Once he completed his studies, Mike joined the family business full-time and was tasked to grow the business in new ways. At a legal trade show in the late 1990s, Mike met two individuals who had developed software for courtroom presentation. Fascinated by the possibilities of how a visually compelling presentation could help lawyers win in court, Mike knew he needed to be a part of this emerging field. Mike quickly learned the software, bought the necessary equipment, and in late 1999, started offering trial presentation services through his father’s court reporting firm. In 2005, he went out on his own, establishing MGM Trial Services.

Since then, Mike and his team have been trusted advisors to dozens of law firms during trial, mediation, arbitration, and complex negotiations. They’ve participated in hundreds of cases including patent litigation, product liability, environmental class action cases, medical malpractice, contested wills, and white-collar criminal proceedings. And while Mike’s title is president of the company, you won’t find him hiding in the corner office. You’ll find him in the courtroom, on Zoom depositions, in a client’s office discussing case strategy, or in the ‘war room’ prepping a witness. Mike remains totally hands-on.

Mike is proficient with OnCue, MGM’s preferred trial presentation software, as well as with PowerPoint, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, and many other applications that support his clients’ needs. Mike is a strategic problem-solver. He knows the challenges litigators face when trying to present complex evidence in the simplest, most understandable way. Mike leverages his 20+ years of trial presentation experience to help tip the scales of justice in his clients’ favor.

Jimmy Lingg

Jimmy Lingg

Prior to meeting Mike, Jimmy was an Apple-certified instructor, an AVID-authorized trainer, and a film instructor at The Sheffield Institute.

In 2008, Mike found himself faced with an audio issue for a hugely important video settlement presentation that he just couldn’t seem to correct. A call to a TV producer that Mike knew led him to Jimmy. Mike met with Jimmy, described the problem, and gave Jimmy the files. Jimmy fixed the problem and saved the day. They quickly became friends and shortly thereafter, Mike recruited Jimmy to join MGM.

Jimmy quickly learned the ropes of trial presentation and within months of joining the team, coupled with his knowledge of video editing and visual storytelling, Jimmy became a terrific trial technician. As we quickly discovered, he brought a natural calm to the courtroom that had a way of rubbing off on everyone around him. No matter how hot the hotseat gets, Jimmy never loses his cool.

As MGM’s media director, Jimmy produces all of our video content, and because he can edit so quickly, he’s able to include our clients in the process. This ability makes us more efficient while delivering a superior product. Jimmy’s also become an expert drone pilot, which has come in handy for some of our environmental cases. When unexpected needs call for unexpected approaches, Jimmy will find the solution.

John Damm

John Damm

John is MGM’s dedicated graphic designer and visual strategist.

From animated timelines and technical illustrations to 3D digital models and interactive multimedia, John is our behind-the-scenes infographics specialist. He makes the intricate understandable and memorable.

A graduate of the visual design and computer science program at the University of Oregon, John’s 20+ years of legal graphics experience has given him the ability to create graphics that truly resonate with jurors. He understands the dynamics of the courtroom, knows his audience, and most importantly, how to use demonstratives to our clients’ advantage.

Since joining the MGM team in 2014, he’s been instrumental in many of our most successful presentations, including medical malpractice, product liability, environmental class action litigation and white-collar criminal proceedings. In trial presentation, conveying complex information in the simplest way possible is critical. That’s why our clients rely on John Damm.

Rob Tate

Rob Tate

Similarly to Mike, Rob Tate grew up working in his parents’ court reporting firm. He learned the demands of the legal profession firsthand, embodying his family’s commitment to exemplary client service.

Rob is that rare trial presentation specialist who thinks like an attorney. With advanced degrees from Duke University, the University of Virginia, and Ithaca College, Rob brings to the courtroom the ability to sift through complex sets of information and distill what is critical in narrative form. He’s a keen observer of people, which makes him invaluable not only during jury selection, but during testimony, as well. Rob has an uncanny ability to read a witness and to see if they’ve connected with a jury.

An expert trial technician, Rob is well versed in OnCue, as well as PowerPoint, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Since joining the MGM team in 2021, Rob has participated in dozens of cases involving medical malpractice, environmental class action litigation, white-collar criminal defense, and caveat proceedings. His understanding and anticipation of client needs has earned him a reputation as one of our most trusted partners to counsel.

Josh Miller

Josh Miller

Josh Miller joined the MGM team in January 2023, fresh from UMBC where he earned a dual degree in studio/music technology and jazz performance. His formal training in A/V technology made him an asset to our team right from the start.

And when his skills have been put to the test, he’s risen to the occasion. Recently, Josh was scheduled to run a week-long arbitration in Detroit. When he showed up, the equipment that was supposed to be there… wasn’t. Josh improvised, using the equipment that he did have with him to create an impactful presentation. Now a trial tech as much as a musician, Josh understands that the show must go on.

Since joining MGM, Josh has participated in cases involving medical malpractice and financial litigation. He’s up for more. We’re lucky to have Josh on board – a natural collaborator and an indispensable guy to have in the trenches.
